Gries is located in the middle of the Ötztal at an altitude of 1574m. From Längenfeld you reach the Sulztal, a small side valley of the Ötztal. The village consists of about 60 houses and three hotels where about 200 locals and additionally about 500 guests find place.
Gries is located directly at the foot of the 3000m high Winnebachseespitze in a flat valley floor with a view of the second highest mountain of the Stubai Alps, the Schrankogel.
